Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: Taking a Break

Image result for summer break

We are advocates for a break every now and again. Restful breaks can be restorative whether it’s a break from work (hello vacation!) a break from electronics (good for the mind) or a break from sugar (good for the body).  We have decided to take a break from the routine for the summer ourselves; there are a lot of good things happening and we want to be present for all of them!  We love writing our blog every week but we are going to take a hiatus for the summer while we refresh and enjoy this time in our lives.  Please remember one thing as you go about each day – love.  Love God, love each other, love yourself.  That’s it! It’s all about the love!!!

Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: Work/Life

Image result for possibilities

We like to watch the tv show Mom, and this (approximate) quote was in a recent episode “…the job is not who you are, it’s just what you’re doing on the road to where you want to be.”  That can apply to other things as well on your life path but is a great example of teaching that we may not be in the exact spot we hoped but it doesn’t define us or have to be permanent.  Our futures are full of possibilities!

Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: Twin Stuff

Every now and then weird twin things happen between us and we thought it’d be fun to share a story!  We bought a cinnamon danish in advance of mother’s day and froze it since we didn’t know our exact plans for celebrating with our mom.  Ultimately we went to a retreat (see blog from 5/17/18) so we cut it into thirds and split it between the three of us and put it in the fridge.  The two of us (unbeknownst to each other) cut a slice and enjoyed it cold.  Our mom texted to tell us each that she put her slice in the microwave for 20 seconds and it was delicious warm.  So we both decided to try that too (again unbeknownst to each other).  After eating it both ways we texted each other, here’s the exact conversation:

Heather: “That danish is delicious!  Thank u so much for that sweet treat! I actually ate a piece warmed and a piece cold, I prefer the cold!”

Holly: “I did the exact same thing!!! And came to the same conclusion!!!! Hope you had a happy day ❤️

*Happy Father’s Day Dad! We love you!!

Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: Healthy Living

We try to be conscientious of how we are living our lives focusing on everything from what we eat to how we spend our free time, exercise, spirituality and emotional well-being.  We spend a lot of time reading and researching about healthy lifestyles and thought we’d pass along some interesting things we love!

* Sit by large windows that face views of nature.  This is so peaceful and restorative.

* Practice self-care to alleviate stress.  This could be getting your hair cut, getting a massage, exercising – we like yoga!

* Unplug from devices for a set amount of time.

* Read for pleasure.

* Get plenty of sleep and drink water, so good for you.

It’s not easy, but if you don’t already, try one of these things.  Healthy living makes you feel more balanced and joyful which leads to happier interactions with others and hopefully that follows the path of making this world a better place!  One small action at a time…

Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: Dream Big!

We recently read that people’s desire for something more is actually a longing for Eden. That place you’re dreaming of in life, whether it’s an actual place or an emotional one, where you feel truly at peace. Ever have a big dream that just keeps coming back to you time after time? Or maybe a small-scale that dream could be realized? Hope and faith play a role here too, keep them both in your heart.
